SERVICE LIFE RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES EXPOSED TO MARINE ENVIRONMENT
Based on the current research achievement on concrete durability exposed to chloride environment, the parameters which influencing the chloride diffusion in concrete, such as type of cement, w/cm ratio, temperature and humidity of environment, time etc., have been discussed. Using chloride diffusion equation and the finite differential method, 2D diffusion programs for simulating the chloride concentration in concrete are developed. The program can be used to simulate the time depended accumulation of chloride ions in concrete structures exposed to marine environment. Considering that the parameters influencing the chloride diffusion and reinforcement cover are stochastic variables, Monte Carlo simulation method integrating with the 2D finite differential chloride diffusion analysis is employed to analyze the life of concrete structures. Calculation results have shown that the method is a quite good tool to give the reliability valuation of concrete structures in marine environment. The method can be used to study the influence of . random variables on concrete durability and life as well. By discussing the influence of random variables on concrete life reliability, suggestions have been made to control the constructional quality of concrete structures.
