Signal Analysis: An Important Area for Studying Competitive Intelligence—A Brief Survey

The signaling study is an important field of intelligence forecast. Although it has been decades since the economic circle has studied marketing signals, the intelligence studies, especially those in the competitive intelligence field, still do not regard it as an important subject of competitive analysis. This paper introduces part of research results of Chinese and foreign scholars on five topics such as the classification of signals, the generation and discovery, the collection and treatment, the analysis and identification, and the application of signaling theory. The paper aims to attract the attention of enterprise intelligence professionals and those engaged in the intelligence study, and to further expand studies in this aspect by integrating intelligence theories on relevant subjects.
