GEOINFORMATIONAL MONITORING AND CARTOGRAPHICAL MODELING OF METROPOLIS POST-SOVIET SPATIAL VOLUTION. THE CASE OF ROSTOV-ON-DON

The paper substantiates the priority aspects of geoinformational monitoring and cartographical modeling of the leading socio-economic dynamics of metropolises, modernization of their economic and residential environment, attached to modern Russia. Based on the analysis of the main tendencies of Rostov-on-Don post-Soviet spatial evolution (de-industrialization and tertiarization of economy, social stratification, re-urbanization with partial deconcentration of the central functions, city transformation to the economic metropolis of regional significance etc.) the concept and structure of forming GIS-based Atlas of urban development are suggested.
