MEDICAL-ECOLOGICAL MAPPING IN THE REGIONS OF TECHNOGENIC POLLUTION (EXEMPLIFIED BY THE EUROPEAN NORTH OF RUSSIA)
Medical-ecological mapping is a representative for objective analysis of human health. It is necessary for management of ecological situation and improvement of life quality.Problems of medical-ecological mapping are discussed for the European North of Russia. The territory is characterized by intensive economic activities. Extraction of mineral resources is the principle branch of economy. Among the largest industrial regions are the following: Western-Kola and Central-Kola (Murmansk region), Archangelsky and Kotlassky (Archangelsk region), Vorkutinsky (Komi republic) and Cherepovecky (Vologda region). Such economic development of the northern territories inevitably causes deterioration of natural ecosystems, leads to accumulation of anthropogenic pollutants in ecosystems components, has an negative impact on human health reflected in high morbidity and mortality levels.
