INTEGRATED COAL PYROLYSIS WITH CO2 REFORMING OF METHANE FOR IMPROVING TAR YIELD
Hydropyrolysis is an effective method for improving tar yield and quality compared with pyrolysis under N2, but the high cost of hydrogen limits its practical application. Methane, the main composition of natural gas and coal-bed gas, is proposed to be the hydrogen substitute in hydropyrolysis. Egiebor and Gray 1 investigated Highvale coal pyrolysis under CH4 and Ar, and it was found that coal conversion in pyrolysis under CH4 was higher than that in pyrolysis under Ar. Liao et al. 2 studied pyrolysis of Chinese Xianfeng lignite under coke oven gas at 650℃. The results showed that the tar yield and all the yields of BTX, PCX and naphthalene in pyrolysis products were higher than those from hydropyrolysis at the same hydrogen partial pressure.
