PROCESS CHARACTERISTICS INVESTIGATION ON CO-GASIFICATION OF COAL AND BIOMASS

Co-gasification of coal and biomass has been put forward as a bridge between energy productions from fossil fuels and energy production from renewable fuels1. Compared with biomass, coal reserve is relatively abundant and can be supplied stably; therefore co-gasification of coal and biomass can enlarge the scale of biomass gasification so that a more economical process can be gained. In addition, coal has a higher carbon content compared with biomass, co-gasification can improve the temperature of the gasifier so that tar formation is decreased2.
