CFD SIMULATION OF COAL WATER SLURRY FLOWING IN HORIZONTAL PIPELINES
The transportation of coal water slurries in pipelines is popular in numerous industrial applications ranging from coal combustion to gasification or liquefaction processes. For highly concentrated CWS, their flow behaviors are very complex and the experimental investigations are difficult and expensive to perform. To develop a CFD model to predict those technical parameters such as pressure drop, velocity and concentration distribution becomes the endeavor of the researchers. Because the kinetic theory of granular account for collisional and frictional characteristics of the solid phase, it makes the super dense solid-fluid flow tractable within the framework of the Eulerian multiphase model.
