CO PREFERENTIAL OXIDATION IN HYDROGEN STREAM OVER Au/CeO2, Au/Co3O4 AND Au/CeO2-Co3O4 CATALYSTS FOR FUEL CELL APPLICATION
Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) as a potential power source of electric vehicles have attracted much attention due to their low operation temperature, excellent energy efficiency and zero-emission of air pollutants 1. Pure hydrogen is the ideal fuel for PEMFC; however, hydrogen feed for PEMFC is usually produced by steam reforming of liquid fuel followed by water gas shift due to the difficulty in the distribution and storage of hydrogen 2. Hydrogen produced in this way contains inevitably a small amount of CO, which can poison the platinum electrodes of the fuel cell at the low temperature.
