IMPROVEMENT OF SULFIDATION AND HYDRODESULFURIZATION PERFORMANCE FOR HYDROTREATING CATALYSTS WITH CARBON ADDITION

Hydrotreating catalysts of high performance are essential to meet of the increasingly stringent legislations for low sulfur transport fuels. Molybdenum sulfides supported on alumina and promoted by Co or Ni are widely used as the hydrotreating catalysts; under hydrotreating conditions, the stabilized active phase may be carbonized 1. However, the role of carbon in the catalyst performance is still in controversy in the literature.
