EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF PSEUDO-ONE-STEP SYNTHESIS FOR DIMETHYL ETHER PRODUCTION
During the past few years, Dimethyl ether (DME) has received growing attention because of its potential use as multipurpose fuel and it can be obtained from natural gas, coal, waste products and biomassl. DME can be used as a clean high-efficiency compression ignition fuel with reduced NOx, SOx, and particulate matter2. As DME is easily liquefied, it can be distributed, stored and similar properties as propane and butane, permitting its use as a LPG substitute3. In addition, DME is an important chemical and it can be used as an aerosol propellant to replace chlorofluorocarbons due to its environmentally benign characteristics4.
