pH-CONTROLLED SYNTHESIS OF Co/SiO2 SOL-GEL CATALYSTS FOR FISCHER-TROPSCH SYNTHESIS
FTS with conventional supported cobalt catalysts usually yields a wide spectrum of hydrocarbons which is controlled by the Anderson-Schulz-Flory (ASF) polymerization kinetics 1. It imposes a limitation on the maximum selectivity for a given hydrocarbon product, such as C5-C18 paraffins (middle distillates) as they are believed to have extremely low sulfur and aromatic contents, high-cetane index, and clean burning feature in compression-ignition engines 2. In order to overcome the limitation of ASF distribution, many studies have been made to explore an effective catalyst with controlled product selectivity 3-4.
