SELECTIVE SYNTHESIS OF MIXED ALCOHOLS FROM SYNGAS OVER CATALYST Fe2O3/Al2O3 IN SLURRY REACTOR
It has been known that mixed alcohols from syngas would play an important role in reducing oil dependence and as high octane blending stock for gasoline. The catalysts for mixed alcohols synthesis from syngas can be divided into classes of (i) methanol synthesis catalysts modified with alkali promoters and (ii) Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis catalysts modification and Group VIII metal based catalysts 1, 2. The modified FT catalysts and Group VIII metal based catalysts, especially the inexpensive iron based catalysts are so attractive for their products mainly consisting of linear primary alcohols which are very favorable for being gasoline octane enhancer 3,4.
