A NOVEL PROCESS FOR CO2 SEQUESTRATION BY MINERAL CARBONATION COMBINED WITH ELECTROCHEMICAL METHOD

The international community has become increasingly concerned that greenhouse gas emissions have a potentially adverse effect on global climate conditions. Carbon dioxide is considered the most significant of the greenhouse gases, and reduction of CO2 emissions from the energy and process industries has become increasingly emphasized as a primary environmental concern1,2. Reduction can be achieved by 1) efficiency improvements in fossil-fuel-fired power plants2; 2) using low-carbon or carbon-free energy sources; 3) capturing and sequestering CO2 emissions3.
