ROLE OF CARBON DIOXIDE IN ISOBUTANE DEHYDROGENATION THROUGH REACTION COUPLING WITH REVERSE WATER-GAS SH5FT OVER NiO/AC CATALYST

The increasing demand for isobutene in recent years has drawn considerable attention to the dehydrogenation of isobutane to isobutene. However, the direct dehydrogenation of isobutane suffers from fast catalyst deactivation, low isobutane conversion, poor isobutene selectivity, high operation temperature and high energy consumption. Oxidative dehydrogenation proved to be an effective way to increase the conversion and/or lower the reaction temperature; however, the desirable dehydrogenation product is vulnerable by deep oxidation when using oxygen as oxidant 1.
