Improvements of 1200V reverse conducting IGBT for Induction Cooking
High voltage IGBT up to 1600 V are widely used in induction cooking appliances. The introduction of the fieldstop technology in combination with a trench gate structure brought improvements to these applications in terms of conduction losses and switching losses and therefore in energy savings. Additionally, the reverse conducting technology offers further steps for new IGBT devices. New optimisations of the reverse conducting (RC-) IGBT technology are proposed in this paper, which bring benefits to the application such improvements of efficiency. The final paper discusses detailed a new technology for induction cooking in 1200V single ended topologies and advantages in the application will be clearly worked out.
