New Generation of Smart Power Modules for up to 3kW Motor Drive Applications
This paper discusses a new Motion-SPMTM (Smart Power Modules) in Mini-DIP package, which is a fully optimized and intelligent integrated IGBT inverter module for up to 3kW motor drive applications. Although its external size is same as a previous iteration of Motion-SPMTM in Mini-DIP, the performance and reliability has been increased. This improvement is realized by employing NPT IGBT, highly integrated building blocks having the built-in HVICs and built-in bootstrap diodes for the help of easy PCB layout. It also provides technical advantages such as the optimized cost-effective thermal performances through full mold and DBC (Direct Bonded Copper) substrates. This paper provides an overall description of the improved Motion-SPMTM module in Mini-DIP as well as actual application issues such as electrical characteristics, circuit configurations, thermal performance and power ratings.
