Phase Shedding Control Algorithm for Multiphase Voltage Regulator
Modern microprocessors require high efficiency operation in wide load range. Phase shedding is a proven approach to achieve flat efficiency curve across the load for multiphase voltage regulator. However, for a cost effective design, phase shedding would have a significant impact on voltage regulator performance. In this paper, proper control algorithm is proposed to accommodate phase shedding in multiphase voltage regulator. The concept is validated by simulation and experimental results.
