IMPROVEMENT FOR LOCATING THE FLAME FRONT IN THE MOVING FLAME FRONT (MFF) MODEL
The moving flame front (MFF-I) model, a newly developed flame-sheet model for the combustion of a carbon particle with finite-rate heterogeneous oxidation and reduction, locates the flame front only by analyzing the oxidation reaction. Taking the influence of heterogeneous oxidation and reduction both into account, this paper gives more precise deduction for flame front location, forming a new model of MFF-II. Under general combustion conditions, predicted results by the improved MFF-II model are very closed to those by the original MFF-I. However, the improved MFF-II model can be applied to the cases of lower oxygen concentration with cirtain reducing gases, such as coal-reburning and gasification processes, which is beyond the capability of MFF-I.
