THE RESEARCH OF DROPLET D32 DIAMETER IN CROSS-CURRENT ROTATING PACKED BED WITH DISHES PACKING
Cross-current rotating packed bed with dishes effectively strengthens heterogeneous micro - mixing, mass transfer and chemical reaction. Fluid flow is complex in high gravity field, and highly correlated with the structure of the bed; gas liquid contacting is seriously influenced by liquid distribution. This research adopts packed bed which is made up of fixed shell and rotatable dishes with mesh which are regularly concavo-convex and are arranged in certain distance at hollow axis inside. Liquid injects into revolver through the top hole of hollow rotating axis; gas drills through the mesh of dishes along the axis. With non-dimension analysis, mathematical model is set up for droplet diameter variations in cross-current rotating packed bed by simplifying conditions; with LDV/APV and a high-speed video camera, variations and average diameter of droplet volume surface are recorded. With model analysis and experiments, it is showed that d32 diameter of droplet decreases with rotational speed of dishes increasing. It is because that promotes liquid-film to break down. In outer shell, discontinuous ligament and membrane breakage is seen with movement speed decreasing. Droplet which is between dishes in inner shell is smaller than in outer shell. Droplet size is greatly increased with mass flow of infusion fluid increasing. When mass flow of inlet gas increases, liquid will be inclined to be atomized by air flow and droplet size will decrease. Besides, thickness of liquid-film on the surface of dishes and droplet size of space distribution decreases. It is good to atomization of liquid that secondary coalescence is reduced with interval distance of each disk increasing. When the ratio of hole to disk surface is improved, both continuity of liquid-film on the surface dishes and thickness of liquid-film will decrease. Besides airflow resistance decreases and gas flow increases. Therefore, droplet size decreases. As to this type apparatus, not only rotating dishes play an important part, but also shell has important impact on mass transfer and reaction because there is much droplet in space of outer shell.
