COMBUSTION PROCESS SIMULATION OF A TANGENTIALLY COAL BLEND FIRED BOILER

The combustion process in a 300 MW tangentially fired boiler furnace employing inferior bituminous coal and anthracite as fuel, injected at different floor levels, has been numerically simulated. A new three-mixture-fraction model was used to model the combustion process of each individual coal of the binary blends. In this model, the simultaneous presence of two kinds of coal of different property is allowed. For the purpose of comparison, the single-mixture-fraction model was used, only assuming a single coal of weighted average property. Simulation and actual measured results show that the temperature and oxygen concentration distribution of the across section in the furnace are nonuniform, but symmetric across corners. The results computed by the three-mixture-fraction model are more in conformity with the actual combustion process of the coal blends.
