THE SIMULATION STUDY OF OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF GASIFICATION PLANT WITH VARIOUS FEEDSTOCK

Coal gasification is recognized as next power generation technology replaced conventional coal power plant. It produces not only electricity but also second energy sources such as H2, DME and chemicals with simultaneous reduction of CO2. This study is focused on operating characteristics of 300 MW scale IGCC plant in various fuels through simulation with ASPEN plus. The fed fuels are classified by coal, heavy oil residues. For estimating performance of gasification plant model, it is compared commercial plant with simulation model through the approximation of relative error between real operating data and simulation model. After that, the results were checked for operating characteristics of each process component as; gasification, acid gas (CO2, H2S) removal and power island. To do this, evaluating parameters were chosen as cold gas efficiency of gasifier, CO2 capture efficiency of acid gas removal process and power output and efficiency of combined cycle. According to the simulation results, heavy oil residue is relatively appropriate for generating power through gasification between coal and heavy oil residues.
