RESEARCH ON NOz EMISSION CHARACTERISTICS AND MECHANISM DURING SEWAGE SLUDGE/COAL MIXTURES COMBUSTION

NOx emission characteristics of Sewage sludge/coal mixtures were measured at four constant temperatures respectively in a tube kiln reactor. Samples were composed of pre-dried sewage sludge and lean coal in six different mass fractions. Relation between NOx emission concentrations with heating time tended to appear ‘Double-Peak’ was found. The’ First Peak’ advanced and the peak value enhanced with reaction temperature increasing. Total NOx emission and Fuel-N Conversion Ratio both reduced with the increase of sewage sludge mass fraction. It might be related to the inhibition of NOx emission by sample characteristics, existence form and pyrolysis products of some alkali metals. Lower combustion temperature, air fractional combustion and fuel reburning could reduce NOx emission of mixtures.
