FORMATION OF GASEOUS CHLORINE FORMATION IN AN INCINERATION PROCESS COMPARISON OF SIMULATED EXPERIMENTAL WITH CALCULATION RESULTS

The mechanism of Cl2 formation in the reaction system HCl/H2O/O2/CO2/N2 was studied experimentally at 1473K, with residence time of 4s. In addition, a detailed kinetic model composed by 38 elementary reactions of HCl/H2O/O2/CO2/N2 was developed and validated against experimental results. Both experimental and calculation results show that Cl radical is a key species for producing Cl2 in exhaust gas. In cooling process the main consumption reactions of Cl radical are evaluated as H2O+Cl→HCl+OH, OH+Cl→HCl+O and Cl+Cl+M→Cl2+M, among which former two reactions also explain the effect of H2O on the concentration of Cl radical at high temperature. Additively, the influence of quenching rate on the distribution of chlorine in products was discussed by the different change level of production rate of Cl radical consumption reactions.
