NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON COAL COMBUSTION IN A MOVING BED

A bed model of coal combustion in a travelling grate stoker is set up based on porous media method. The temperature gradient and ash layer diffusion resistance in particles are considered. And the gas species yielded to the bituminous coal combustion at the bed surface is predicted. The unit furnace experimental system is used to check the model. The result shows that the prediction of O2, H2, CO and CO2 agrees with the experimental data. And the combustion process in the coal bed is explored by the calculation.
