NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE GAS-SOLID TWO-PHASE FLOW IN A 1 T/H TWO-STAGE ENTRAINED FLOW GASIFIER
Coal gasification has received increasing attention in the past two decades due to the growing demand for clean gaseous fuels. Numerical simulations of the coal gasification process inside a two-stage dry feed entrained flow gasifier were carried out using the commercial CFD solver FLUENT. A series of numerical simulation of gas-solid two-phase flow in the entrained flow coal gasifier was carried out based on the established model in the previous paper. The aim was to reveal the effects of main parameters, including throat diameter, height ratio of two stages, and the inlet velocity of coal particle phase, on gas-solid two-phase flow field inside the gasifier. These factors affect the gas phase flow field and coal particle trajectories that will influence the performance of gasifier. The calculation is helpful for designing the operating conditions and the gasifier structure to improving the performance of coal gasifier.
