DETERMINATION OF FOULING CHARACTERISTICS OF VARIOUS COALS UNDER COAL GASIFICATION CONDITION

The main purpose of present investigation is to determine the low temperature ash deposition behavior of coal gasification condition using DTF (Drop Tube Furnace), in which behavior of coal particle in actual gasification condition can be simulated experimentally. Eight different pulverized coal samples in the range of bituminous and sub-bituminous are injected into DTF under gasification condition with changing the experimental conditions. The ash particles are deposited on to sample collector by the impacting and agglomerating actions; deposit sample of ash are collected, weighed and analyzed to determine the amount and composition of deposit. Experiment results illustrated, the major mineral of coal ash, such as Na2O and K2O compounds leading to fouling deposit rate. That is also found that among various physical and chemical properties of coal, mineral component are generally considered as dominant parameter to determine ash deposition behavior at low temperature.
