A METHOD SUITABLE FOR CALCULATION OF THE CALORIFIC VALUE OF STONE COAL

More than 1500 stone coals’ calorific values were calculated by Mendeleev formula etc. and the calculated results were compared with the measured, the compared results show that the average relative error is over 20%, this means that the above mentioned calculating method is not suitable for stone coals. In order to find out a new method suitable for calculating of the calorific value of stone coal, the factors influencing the calorific value of stone coals were analyzed and the following conclusions were obtained: the more the originally formed mineral in stone coal, the larger the deviation of the tested calorific value from that of the true calorific value; the more the incombustible in the volatile matter of stone coal, the larger the deviation of the measured calorific value from that of the true calorific value. On the basis of these analysises, a new method for calculating of the calorific value of stone coal formed in Early Paleozoic in China is proposed and, the method was validated by comparing calorific value of the calculated with that of the measured with several kinds of stone coals, the results show that the average relative errors between the calorific values of the calculated and the true is less than 5%, this proves that the new calculating method is promising for engineering application.
