Application of Sparse Observations from Space-based Radar in Orbit Determination
The space-based radar would only obtain one single set of observations which is quite different from the continuous tracking arcs by the ground-based one. And these sparse measurements can be used to update the spacecraft state vector. Before the application of the Extended Kalman Filter the position and velocity of the updating point and the covariance matrix is propagated by Matrix Ricatti equation. Then one design of the space-based space surveillance made up of the radar constellation is given. The simulation shows that the space-based observations can suppress the error divergence efficiently and keep the high accuracy of the orbit determination.
