Influence of Chamber Structures Azial Vibration On Internal Ballistics of Solid Rocket Motor

Influence of axial vibration of the chamber structure including propellant grain and casing on the internal ballistics of solid rocket motor(SRM) was investigated in SRM chamber. In our study, internal ballistic models of SRM are required, which incorporate the gas dynamic flow within the motors core, the propellant burning process at the core periphery and the influence of solid structures axial vibration. For the purposes of this study, it was considered suitable to employ an erosive burning-rate model as the boundary condition of the core periphery along the propellant grain. The surface regression rate was described in the phenomenological mode, which is a function of pressure, core flow. In this paper , there are some suppositions for vibration model of chamber. Based on these suppositions, derivating from axial vibration equation of beam, the partial differential equation is described. Finally, the interaction of structure axial vibration and the internal ballistics of SRM occurs through the following approach : oscillation of flow pressure will product structure axial vibration; axial vibration displacement will effect the axial flow on core flow equations. The coupling influence of chamber structures axial vibration and internal ballistics for solid rocket motor has been illustrated by this numerical study. When internal ballistics is normal working or has initial pressure pulse,the structure axial vibration has certain effect on the internal ballistics but it will be decrease by damper. Only when pressure of internal ballistics was periodic oscillation, will the influence of axial vibration of the structure on the internal ballistics increase the flow pressure and raise pressure wave amplitude of the chamber structure and the amplitude of structure axial acceleration up to almost ten times.
