Research on the Algorithm of Bearing-only Positioning of Space Debris by Twin Satellites

In order to solve the space debris problem, this paper brings forward the space-based detection way with detecting platforms of twin-satellites and detectors of onboard visible cameras which are located on two satellites separately. We adopt the distance of closest approach to calculate the location of the target at sampling moment. We can realize real-time positioning of the target in this way, which is called state estimation. In order to make use of the targets law of orbital motion adequately,we adopt the arithmetic of kalman filter in the base of state estimation means that make the state estimation results of every moment as the observation value which is the input of the filter to achieve the effect of positioning accuracys improvement. The result of simulation shows that the state estimation with twin satellites combined with kalman filter is effective and has a better positioning accuracy. We analyze the error of positioning with twin satellites and find the factors which influent the accuracy of detection include measurement accuracy, position accuracy, detecting distance and the angle of LOS θ3.
