Detection of Rice Paddy Fields in the Indo-chinese Peninsula Using Time Serial MODIS Data
Remote sensing has a great potential in agricultural monitoring in the East and South East Asia. However, the East and South East Asia have a rainy season. It is difficult to observe clear sky data. MODIS is one of high frequency, 1 scene per 1 or 2 days, satellite sensor. This research using the time serial MODIS data, in the Indo-Chinese peninsula, tries the detection of the rice paddy fields. Several Indexes (NDVI,EVI,NDWI,NDMG) ware calculated time serial MODIS dataset for classification. Results of classification,we were able to make more accrete agricultural land map than USGS. Moreover the rice paddy fields were detected using unsupervised classification method from agricultural land.
