Non-linear Analysis of Isogrid Cylinder
Isogrid structure is the reinforced structures to improve buckling load of structures. It is a reinforced structure using a lattice of intersecting ribs forming an array of equilateral triangles. It has advantages for complex load cases. In this paper, non-linear analysis and structural test of aluminum isogrid structure are described. Diameter of the cylinder is 2. 4 m and height is about 1.5 m. MSC/ MARC is used for non-linear FE analysis. About 40000 shell elements are used for FE analysis. Stiffness and buckling load for cylinder are obtained by FE analysis. In structural test, we find buckling load and buckling mode shape. Local buckling is also observed in triangular grid but compressive stiffness of cylinder is not affected by local buckling. Finally, results of analysis are compared with those of test.
