STUDY ON HYDRAULIC CHARACTERISTICS AND POLLUTANTS REMOVAL PERFORMANCE OF INTERNALLY CIRCULATING DYNAMIC MEMBRANE BIO-REACTOR
An innovative dynamic membrane bioreactor (DMBR) with internally circulating structure was developed to treat municipal wastewater. The hydraulic characteristics and pollutants removal performance of the reactor was studied in comparison with the conventional DMBR. The results of tracer experiment show that the internally circulating DMBR met the ideal continuously stirred tank reactor well with a dead space rate as 0.2%, while that of the conventional DMBR was 7.2%. The dynamic membrane of the internally circulating DMBR could be formed in 120min, when effluent turbidity was below 5.2. The pollutants removal performance of internally circulating DMBR was much better than that of conventional DMBR. After the dynamic membrane was formed, average COD removal rates of the conventional DMBR and the internally circulating DMBR were 91.8% and 94.0% respectively, and average ammonia nitrogen removal rates of the conventional DMBR and the internally circulating DMBR were 94.7% and 97.6% respectively. The internally circulating structure was advantageous to control membrane clogging and prolong the interval of membrane cleaning. The membrane cleaning intervals of the internal circulating DMBR could be kept at above 50h, while that of the conventional DMBR was about 16h.
