A WEBGIS-BASED SYSTEM FOR AGRICULTURAL SPATIAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND DECISION SUPPORT
Based on the summarization and extraction of theory and technology in agricultural information management and production decision making and with WebGIS as spatial information management platform, a set of dynamic knowledge models were developed for farming ecological zoning, evaluation of cropping systems, estimation of cropping productivity, precision farming management. By using the technology of software component and with Browser/Server mode as distributing network platform, a Web-based system was developed for agricultural spatial information management and decision support. The system realized the functions as basic map handling, agricultural spatial information query and analysis, cropping system evaluation, farming ecological zoning, estimation of cropping productivity, precision farming management, visual display of results, and system maintenance. Case studies on the system with the datasets in Jiangsu province indicated that the system could effectively manage agricultural spatial information, and support proper decision making on farming management.
