THE KNOWLEDGE BASE ACCESS MIDDLEWARE: A DISTRIBUTED AND HETEROGENEOUS KNOWLEDGE ACCESS PLATFORM
The knowledge base is an important part of the expert system, and it is one of decisive factors in measuring the experts level. At present , many assistant development tools of agriculture expert system provides different methods for accessing knowledge base, but most of the existing methods are component-level, some even are bound to the reasoning machine directly. Obviously this way of acquiring knowledge is closed and isolated. There are multiplicity of interior structures and storage organizations of the knowledge base, and it is always distributed on the internet. As a result, it is difficult to realize knowledge discovering and sharing using existing methods effectively. This paper presents the Knowledge Base Access Middleware (KBAM), which exposes unified interfaces of the knowledge accessing services and offers services to publish and discover knowledge by adopting Web Service and UDDI techniques. It provides a solution for distributing and integrating dynamical knowledge base and makes it possible to access heterogeneous and distributed knowledge base.
