ESTIMATING WHEAT BIOCHEMICAL CONCENTRATION AND BIOLOGICAL STATUS FROM AIRBORNE HYPERSPECTRAL IMAGE
The shift in the location of the reflectance red edge is related to changes in the chlorophyll content of plants. The inverted-gaussian(IG) reflectance model was analyzed, and the related reflectance red edge variables, such as red edge position, λp, absorption peakposition λo and absorption width σ, were derived.Strong correlations were observed between the reflectance red edge variables and the foliar biochemical concentrations, such as chlorophyll, total nitrogen, sugar and foliar water from both airborne spectral data. The results demonstrated the use of remotely sensed estimates of red edge varialbes for estimating biochemical contents, and also indicated the potential of hyperspectral data for precision agriculture.
