A TESTING SOFTWARE FOR VARIABLE RATE APPLICATION

For variable rate application system being developed, a lot of testing work should be done in laboratory before field experiment. In order to meet the demand for laboratory testing and development of variable rate application system, software that can simulate the process of field operation should be developed. The designing and development process of a kind of object-oriented simulation software for variable rate application performance testing is presented in this article.This software has the simulation function modules of field mapping, parallel swathing guidance, variable rate controlling and data management. All of the relevant elements for field operation of variable rate application such as field boundary, tractor, direction line (A-B line), track line and prescription map and so on are managed by object-oriented manner, input and output data files are managed by workspace object. GIS component was integrated and moving GPS receiver was simulated in this software. Interactive operation control for moving vehicle in field was fulfilled through mouse and keyboard under the environment of Windows GUI. The program has been tested and proven to be very user-friendly and efficient for laboratory testing and development of variable rate application system.
