RESERVOIRS MANAGEMENT BY ICT TECHNIQUES

The reservoir can both decrease the flood peaks of downstream in flood seasons and save water for drought seasons. Digital reservoir for flood control and regulation by spatial information techniques revolves around acquiring, updating, managing and serving of data about geographical information of a reservoir to build a virtual functional reservoir that makes the flood control and regulation easier and more scientific. Dada needed and software selected are briefly introduced in third part of the paper, then hydrologic analysis, surface analysis, visibility analysis, buffer analysis, submergence analysis and so on are presented which are the core application of spatial information technology in a digital reservoir. GPS is used to monitor the deformation of the dam and corresponding alert is made when risky. 3-d models of reservoir and watercourse are also constructed and dynamic surface is designed based on hydrologic data to reflect the real situations. Spatial information technology is helpful for the management of a reservoir.
