SIMULATION OF SOIL TEMPERATURE AND MOISTURE DYNAMICS FOR DIFFERENT RAINFALL CONDITIONS IN NORTHEAST CHINA
By the use of CoupModel, a simulation study of soil temperature and water content in an arable field with crop cover in the Northeast China, was carried out in order to test model performance and estimate soil heat and water dynamics. Data of soil physical properties, meteorological variables and plant development taken from Hailun Experimental Station of Agricultural Ecology on Songnen Plain, Northeast China were used as model input. The data of 1992, 1993 and 1994 were used to simulate soil temperatures. Data of 1995, 1997 and 1999 were used to estimate soil water content. Statistical criteria were used to compare the quality of the simulation results, good results were obtained except some discrepancies. Some deviations between simulated and measured values were analyzed. The results indicated that the model can be used for estimating the dynamics of soil heat and soil water content in the region. The modeling methods will help to make the irrigation scheme assisting plant management, and would be very useful for applying the precision agriculture following the further improvement.
