FIELD TOPOGRAPHY MEASUREMENT USING GPS AND LASER TECHNIQUES
Field topography is important for land management and decision support. A new way of measuring field topography using GPS and laser techniques is presented and an instrument is developed. Laser transmitter and receiver are used to help acquiring height information. A semiautomatic data logger and controller is designed. Radio Beacon DGPS is used to get higher horizontal positioning accuracy, advantages and disadvantages of this method are listed. Preliminary experiments were carried out to test horizontal positioning ability of radio beacon DGPS. Further field tests and system test are still needed.
