APPLICATION OF ONTOLOGY IN WIADRP AND INTRODUCTION OF THE ONTOLOGY MANAGEMENT TOOL
Currently, ontology has been widely used in many fields. This paper introduced a tool used for developing and managing ontologies. The tool is a graphical、 user-friendly one that can help users edit and manage ontologies which are stored in a database or an OWL file. This paper focuses on the design and function of the tool. The application of ontology in WIADRP (Web Intelligence Applications Development and Runtime Platform) is also introduced. WIADRP is a platform for agriculture experts to build expert systems through the web. When different experts develop knowledge base even in the same domain, they may use different expressions to describe the same concept. These differences may eventually lead to a failure inference or different infering results. Sometime common sense knowledge is also needed. However, it hasnt been used so widely as expert knowledge in the Artificial Intelligent (AI) field for its large amount and difficulty in expressing it. Ontology can solve the above problems.
