The Key Technique of Highly Precise and Safe Delay Detonator without Primary Ezplosive
Traditional detonators containing primary explosives have several disadvantages associated with primary explosives, for example environmental pollution in production and poor safety in application. One technique to overcome these disadvantages is the non-primary-explosive detonators. This paper presents a new type of non-primary-explosive detonator,based on the principle of slapper plate detonator. The initiation unit in the new detonator is the key component. Furthermore, a new delay element, named linear delay element, is introduced. Combining the new non-primary-explosive detonator and the new delay element, a highly precise and safe delay detonator without primary explosives is designed. Experiments have shown that this detonator is more reliable in initiation, safer in application and more accurate in delay time. It also has very good resistance to high temperature, water and impact. Therefore, this detonator has a very good potential for mass production and broad applications.
