SME Industrial Cluster Strategy and Regional Development
The global economy today is getting dominated by business clusters. Cluster strategy has been recommended and popularized by international organizations such as UNIDO and OECD.More and more research results revealed that many developed countries have driven economy flying-off through the development of industrial clusters.As most SMEs have natural weakness, global competition can threaten their existing base and competitive strength. Nevertheless, their existence and competence can be strongly supported by regional or local business concentration and networking. This paper tries to examine and compare ongoing strategy developments based on the idea of industrial cluster model and their effects on regional economies and SMEs in some regions. In this paper, concrete case studies are examined, good lessons are picked up and action recommendations are developed.
