Calculation and Comparison of Regional TFP of China
In this paper we use the data of 30 provinces of China which covers the period of 1991-2007 to calculate the Total Factors Productivity. Averaging the provincial results respectively,we find out that the TFP in the eastern provinces of China tends to be convergent to that of the central provinces, but conspicuously higher than that in the western. Among the endogenous determinants of TFP, we focus on the technical choice which is reflected in the Factors Intensity (FI) and Output-Factor-Ratio (OFR). With the technical comparison of each two regions, we find that FI in each of the three regions tends to be convergent, but the OFR in the eastern or the central part is significantly higher than that in the western.
