The Impact of Technical Progress on Chinas Energy Efficiency: 1979-2006
The paper examined the impact of technical progress variables such as FDI,human capital and R & D on Chinas Energy Efficiency from 1979 to 2006 by using the VAR model Impulse Response Function and Variance decomposition methods. Through the impulse response function, the paper discovered that the positive effect of technical progress variables to Chinas Energy Efficiency trend to a longtime stabilization. Through the result of Variance decomposition, the contribution ratio from the input of R & D and the accumulation of human capital have respectively already reached or approached 40% to Chinas Energy Efficiency. Increasing the technology inputs, accelerating the formation of human capital and boosting the admitting and utilization of FDI will produce a longtime effect ion on improving Chinas Energy Efficiency.
