The Role Evolution of MNCs Chinese Subsidiaries:A Theoretical Framework
The strategic roles of the Chinese subsidiaries of the MNCs are changing rapidly with the development of Chinese economy. This paper concludes the determinants of MNCs subsidiary role into three categories. They are environmental factors,the control of parent company and the capabilities of the subsidiary itself. Based on this, we build a three-dimension framework which defines the role of subsidiary into 8 kinds. We name the roles as: beginner, loser, clerk, backer, little seigneur, contributor, chief under the jurisdiction of the MNC,free chief. There are 12 ways consist in the exchanging between different roles.
