An Empirical Study of the Impact of Knowledge Management on E-business Performance in Modern Service Industry
Despite the importance of knowledge management to modern service firms, we know little about the mediating aspects of the process of e-business value creation. Building on the resource-based view(RBV), this paper develops a conceptual model for exploring the potential relationships among IT resources, knowledge management and e-business performance. In this paper, the researchers conduct and report on an empirical study with data collected from 185 modern service firms. The results indicate that knowledge management plays a significant role in mediating the effects of IT resources with respect to a firms e-business performance. The findings also lend support to the notion that information system integration (ISI) is the foundation of e-business success. More specifically, enabling organizations to share and apply the knowledge of their people is seen as fundamental to creating e-business value in service enterprises.
