Increasing Returns and Home-Market Effects: An Empirical Test in A Difference-in-Difference Gravity Model
This paper shows how the home-market effects can be estimated in an extended difference-in-difference gravity model. By taking into account several important factors in the model, we investigate the correlations between home market demand and home export volume for 20 manufacturing industries of China. The empirical test suggests the home-market effects can be detected for industries with increasing returns, furthermore; we find other factors have differentiated effects on trade volume.
