Business Intelligence Approach to Support Modeling and Analysis of Complez Economic Networks

Complex networks as a powerful tool for the structure modeling of complex system, ranging from biological networks to human society networks or technological networks, so have recently emerged as an independent area of study. Because structure always affects function, the purpose of network modeling is to understand the characters and behaviors of large, interacting networks. The main results based network analysis can affect human decision-making. At present most researchers concerned about structure analysis and behavior analysis of networked system, little attention to building complex network models using intellectualized methods or tools. Complex economic networks like the financial markets networks and international trade networks, which are constructed by multi-entities and multi-ties, are multi-levels, multi-dimension, multi-mode and evolving. For satisfying various network modeling and analysis needs, we need a new methodology to support modeling and analysis of complex economic networks efficiently. This paper proposed a BI framework integrated with network analysis, and discussed that concepts and tools of business intelligence can be used to support modeling and analysis of complex networks. Case study based on complex foreign trade networks described design and implementation of the BI process.
