Toward a Deeper Understanding of Information Systems Innovative Usage: An Empirical Study
Past findings about system usage and performance have been inconsistent, and recent years some researchers proposed the conception of information systems innovative usage to measure the construct of IS usage. Grounded in the explorative & exploitative innovation theories and organizational innovation climate from organizational management literature, the present paper develops a conceptual model for the deeper understanding how to promote IS innovative usage behaviors in Chinese enterprises. This proposed model mainly explains the relationship between organizational innovation climate and IS innovative usage. Taking the questionnaires from approximate two hundred enterprises in Chinese, we find that IT team support, IT resource supply, and IT professional skill have positive impact on IS exploitative usage, IT team support, IT learning in progress and IT professional skill have positive impact on IS explorative usage. The main objective of the paper is to highlight the significance of innovation in information system usage research.
